Confessions is good for the soul 2
According to Barton, “Confession does not ultimately lead us to shame or obsession with our sin; rather it leads to the experience of cleansing and release. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free, Jesus says.”
John 8:32 was the reference to which Barton referred. Experienced a little bit of the above last week at our church as we were given the opportunity to come up and nail our confessions to the cross and have a brother or sister pray for us if we so desired. Reminds me of “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Mtt 16:19)
Great story about confession and forgiveness that Ruth Barton experienced with her daughter, Charity. Read her entire article here.
