A Ruach Journey

Reflections on the Spiritual Life

Athiesm on the rise?

Posted by ruach on October 5, 2009

I knew that the loosely defined “spirituality” was on the rise but apparently, so is athiesm. Several interesting quotes. Here is one:

“When people are ethically and financially stable, it prevents them from exploring religious options and they tend to focus on themselves and others,” he said.

Could this be the selfish gene at work?

    i know atheists
    who behave far more christ-like
    than christians i know

I don’t really think labels make a person or mean anything at all. People who shine out love just shine out love!

Thank You for Your thoughful post.

    Peace All!

  2. When the world was destroyed in Noah’s day, When the angel of the Lord destroyed Sodom, when the lord will almost destroy the earth by war in the near future, there was sin indescribable in all 3 events.

Everything will beyond control concerning evil and sin.. There is always a remnant that survives,,no matter how small..thanks for the article.. Atheist are people with harden hearts who just get in the way of gods word,,,amen They will find out someday they were wrong…When? When they see the Messiah returning to earth as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords..They will be begging the rocks of the mountains to fall upon themselves!!

Well, I am grateful that God was able to look beyond my hardened heart and call me to himself. All is of grace!!! I don’t think an athiest has the power to get in the way of God’s word, anymore than you or I do. I would hope we would weep for those who face a judgment apart from God.

What is wrong with people putting the focus back onto to themselves and others? It only creates a fear to the institutions we serve such as corporations, governments and religious entities. These are what control the majority of the people on the earth, keeping their minds occupied with meaningless garbage in order to dumb down our societies so they can all profit from greed.

So being ethically and financially stable is a GREAT thing and should be applauded. I think we as humans are out of touch with one another and need to reconnect. We are separated by the aforementioned institutions so that they can keep us occupied against each other.

Selfish gene? How ridiculous could that statement ever be. If you want to talk about selfish genes then lets get into a debate about the top 2 percentile in this country of ours, who is increasing the wealth gap as the days pass us by.
